Test D: All Power Door Locks Are Inoperative
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
After making any repairs, retest system for proper operation.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below driver's side of instrument panel, right of steering column. Using NGS tester, perform Central Security Module (CSM) self-test. If Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1309 is stored, go to next step. If DTC B1341 is stored, go to step 5. If no DTCs are stored, go to step 8.
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect CSM harness connector C274b. CSM is located behind driver's side of instrument panel. Measure resistance between ground and CSM harness connector C274b terminal No. 17 (Pink/Yellow wire). See Figure. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to step 14.
- Disconnect driver's side door lock switch harness connector C505. Measure resistance between ground and CSM harness connector C274b terminal No. 17 (Pink/Yellow wire). See Figure. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace driver's side door lock switch. See POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect passenger's side door lock switch harness connector C605. Measure resistance between ground and CSM harness connector C274b terminal No. 17 (Pink/Yellow wire). See Figure. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace passenger's side door lock switch. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Pink/Yellow wire between CSM and passenger's side door lock switch or driver's side door lock switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect CSM harness connector C274b. CSM is located behind driver's side of instrument panel. Measure resistance between ground and CSM harness connector C274b terminal No. 9 (Pink/Light Green wire). See Figure. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to step 14.
- Disconnect driver's side door lock switch harness connector C505. Measure resistance between ground and CSM harness connector C274b terminal No. 9 (Pink/Light Green wire). See Figure. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace driver's side door lock switch. See POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect passenger's side door lock switch harness connector C605. Measure resistance between ground and CSM harness connector C274b terminal No. 9 (Pink/Light Green wire). See Figure. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Pink/Light Green wire between CSM and passenger's side door lock switch or driver's side door lock switch. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace passenger's side door lock switch. See POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect CSM harness connector C274b. CSM is located behind driver's side of instrument panel. Measure resistance between ground and CSM harness connector C274b terminal No. 22 (Pink/Black wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Pink/Black wire between CSM and door inoperative actuator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance between ground and CSM harness connector C274b terminal No. 11 (Pink/Orange wire). See Figure. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground between CSM and inoperative door lock switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect CSM harness connector C274a. CSM is located behind driver's side of instrument panel. Measure resistance between ground and CSM harness connector C274a terminal No. 1 (Red/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Pink/Orange wire between CSM and driver's side door lock actuator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect driver's side front door lock actuator harness connector C525, driver's side rear door lock actuator harness connector C704, passenger's side front door lock actuator harness connector C603 and passenger's side rear door lock actuator harness connector C804. Measure resistance in Pink/Black wire between CSM harness connector C274b terminal No. 22 and each actuator harness connector. See Figure. If all resistances are 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If any resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Pink/Black wire between CSM and appropriate actuator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance in Pink/Orange wire between CSM harness connector C274b terminal No. 11 and passenger's side actuator harness connectors. If all resistances are 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If either resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Pink/Orange wire between CSM and appropriate passenger side actuator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance in Red/Orange wire between CSM harness connector C274a terminal No. 1 and driver's side door lock actuator harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/Orange wire between CSM and driver's side actuator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect all CSM module harness connectors. CSM module is located behind instrument panel, left of steering column. Check for backed out or corroded terminals. Repair terminals as necessary. Connect all CSM module harness connectors. Check operation of power door lock system. If problem still exists, replace CSM. See CENTRAL SECURITY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If problem does not exist, clear all DTCs and perform CSM module self-test.
