Test E: Power Sliding Window Inoperative

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect rear sliding window control switch harness connector C980. Measure voltage between harness connector C980 terminal No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and ground. See Fig 1. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Light Blue/Black wire and test system operation.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between harness connector C980 terminals No. 3 and No. 6 (both Black wires), and ground. If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If either resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wires. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using 2 fused jumper wires (10-amp), connect terminals No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and No. 7 (Violet/Light Blue wire), and terminals No. 1 (Violet/Light Green wire) and No. 3 (Black wire) at harness connector C980. Using 2 fused jumper wires (10-amp), connect terminals No. 1 (Violet/Light Green wire) and No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire), and terminals No. 6 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Violet/Light Blue wire). If power sliding window opens and closes, replace power sliding window control switch and test system operation. See REAR SLIDING WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If window does not open and close, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect rear power sliding window motor 2-pin harness connector C3145. Measure voltage between both terminals at 2-pin harness connector C3145 and ground. If battery voltage is present at either terminal, repair short to voltage in appropriate wire and test system operation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If no battery voltage is present, go to next step.
  5. Measure resistance between both terminals at 2-pin harness connector C3145 and ground. If either resistance is less than 10k/ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and test system operation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If both resistances are greater than 10k/ohms, go to next step.
  6. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Measure resistance between harness connector C980 terminal No. 1 and 2-pin harness connector C3145 terminal No. 1 (both Violet/Light Green wire). Measure resistance between harness connector C980 terminal No. 7 and harness connector C3145 terminal No. 2 (both Violet/Light Blue wires). If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace rear sliding window motor and test system operation. See REAR SLIDING WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If either resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and test system operation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
