- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Operate both power windows from each power window switch. If both windows operate properly, system is okay. If driver's power window does not operate correctly, go to next step. If passenger's power window does not operate correctly, go to step 17.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below driver's instrument panel, right of steering column. Using NGS tester, observe Generic Electronic Module (GEM) PIDs D_DN_SW and OTD_SW while pressing driver's power window switch for driver's window through UP, DOWN and AUTO positions. If PID values do not agree with switch position, go to next step. If PID values agree with switch position, go to step 8.
- Disconnect driver's power window harness connector C535. Using NGS tester, observe Generic Electronic Module (GEM) PIDs D_DN_SW and OTD_SW. Connect fused jumper wire (10-amp), between driver's power window switch harness connector C535 terminals No. 8 (Tan/Light Blue wire) and No. 4 (Light Blue/Black wire). PID OTD_SW should display ON. Connect fused jumper wire (10-amp), between driver's power window switch harness connector C535 terminals No. 4 (Light Blue/Black wire) and No. 6 (Gray wire). See Fig 1. PID D_DN_SW should display DOWN. If PIDs do not display as specified, go to next step. If PIDs display as specified, replace driver's power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If any PID constantly indicates DOWN or UP, go to step 6.
- Disconnect central junction box 34-pin harness connector C270b. Central junction box is located under left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance in Tan/Light Blue wire between driver's power window switch harness connector C535 terminal No. 8 and central junction box harness connector C270b terminal No. 10. Measure resistance in Gray wire between driver's power window switch harness connector C535 terminal No. 6 and central junction box harness connector C270b terminal No. 28. Both resistances should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and driver's power window harness connector C535 terminals No. 6 (Gray wire) and No. 8 (Tan/Light Blue wire). See Figure and Fig 1 . Both resistances should be 10 k/ohms or less. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in appropriate wire between central junction box and driver's power window switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect GEM from central junction box 18-pin internal connector C201d. Measure resistance between central junction box internal connector C201d terminal No. 8 and central junction box connector C270b terminal No. 10 (component side). See Figure. Measure resistance between central junction box internal connector C201d terminal No. 9 and central junction box connector C270b terminal No. 28 (component side). Both resistances should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and central junction box internal connector C201d terminals No. 8 and 9. Both resistances should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, go to step 22. If resistances are not as specified, replace central junction box. See CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect central junction box 34-pin harness connector C270b. Disconnect driver's power window switch harness connector C535. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and driver's power window switch terminals No. 8 (Tan/Light Blue wire) and No. 6 (Gray wire). If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If any voltage exists, repair short to voltage in appropriate wire between central junction box and driver's power window switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect GEM 18-pin internal connector C201d. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and central junction box internal connector C201d terminals No. 8 and 9 (component side). If battery voltage does not exist, replace central junction box. See CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage exists, go to step 22.
- Disconnect driver's power window motor 2-pin harness connector C524. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, toggle active command ONE-TOUCH to ON. Measure voltage between ground and driver's power window motor harness connector C524 Orange/White wire terminal. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage does exist, go to step 12.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Toggle active command ONE-TOUCH to OFF. Disconnect one-touch relay from central junction box. Measure resistance in Orange/White wire between one-touch relay terminal No. 30 and driver's power window motor harness connector C524 Orange/White wire terminal. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step 11.
- Disconnect central junction box harness connector C270a. Measure resistance in Orange/White wire between central junction box harness connector C270a terminal No. 24 and driver's power window motor harness connector C524. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace central junction box. See CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/White wire between central junction box and driver's power window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect accessory delay relay from central junction box. Measure resistance between one-touch down relay terminal No. 87 and accessory delay relay terminal No. 87. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace central junction box. See CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace one-touch down relay.
- Measure resistance between ground and driver's power window motor 2-pin harness connector C524 terminals No. 1 (Orange/White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step 15.
- Disconnect one-touch relay from central junction box. Central junction box is located under left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance between ground and one-touch relay terminal No. 87a. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace one-touch relay.
- Disconnect central junction box 34-pin harness connector C270b. Measure resistance between ground and central junction box harness connector C270b terminal No. 24 (Black wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace central junction box. See CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in Black wire between central junction box and ground. Ground is located behind right kick panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, toggle active command ONE-TOUCH to OFF. Measure resistance between ground and driver's power window motor 2-pin harness connector C524 terminal No. 2 (White/Black wire) while pressing driver's power window switch in UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in White/Black wire between driver's power window switch and driver's power window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect driver's power window switch harness connector C535. Measure resistance between ground and driver's power window motor harness connector C524 White/Black wire terminal. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace driver's power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace driver's power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect passenger's power window switch harness connector C604. Ensure remote lock-out is in UNLOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and passenger's side power window switch harness connector C604 terminal No. 3 (Light Blue/Black wire). See Fig 2. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Light Blue/Black wire between passenger's power window switch and ground. Ground is located behind right kick panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and passenger's side power window switch harness connector C604 terminals No. 1 (White/Yellow wire) and No. 6 (Tan/Light Blue wire). See Fig 2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step 20.
- Disconnect driver's power window switch harness connector C535. Measure resistance in White/yellow wire between driver's power window switch harness connector C535 terminal No. 2 and passenger's power window switch harness connector C604 terminal No. 1. Measure resistance in Tan/Light Blue wire between driver's power window switch harness connector C535 terminal No. 3 and passenger's power window switch harness connector C604 terminal No. 6. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 . If both resistances are 5 ohms or less, replace driver's power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If either resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire between driver's power window switch and passenger's power window switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Using 2 fused jumper wires (10-amp each), connect passenger's power window switch harness connector C604 terminals No. 2 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 3 (Yellow/Light Green wire). Connect passenger's power window switch harness connector C604 terminals No. 5 (Red/Yellow wire) and No. 6 (Tan/Light Blue wire). See Fig 2. Passenger's power window should go DOWN. If passenger's window does not operate as specified, go to next step. If passenger's window operates as specified, replace passenger's power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect passenger's power window motor 2-pin harness connector C608. Measure resistance in Red/Yellow wire between passenger's power window switch harness connector C604 terminal No. 5 and passenger's power window motor harness connector C608 terminal No. 2. Measure resistance in Yellow/Red wire between passenger's power window switch harness connector C604 terminal No. 2 and passenger's power window motor harness connector C608 terminal No. 1. See Fig 2. If both resistances are 5 ohms or less, replace passenger's power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If either resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire between passenger's power window switch and passenger's power window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect all GEM harness connectors and remove GEM from central junction box. Check for backed out, corroded or loose terminals. Repair as necessary. Connect all GEM harness connectors and connect to central junction box. Operate all windows from all switches. If problem still exists, replace GEM. See GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If problem does not exist, system is okay.
