Test V: Instrument Cluster Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C220a. Measure voltage between harness connector C220a terminal No. 10 (Red/White wire) and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Red/White wire and test system operation.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between harness connector C220a terminal No. 11 (Gray/Yellow wire) and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Gray/Yellow wire and test system operation.
  3. Measure voltage between harness connector C220a terminal No. 2 (Red/Light Green wire) and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Red/Light Green wire and test system operation.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between harness connector C220a terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire and test system operation.
  5. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C220b. Measure resistance between C220b terminal No. 17 (Pink/Orange wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Pink/Orange wire and test system operation.
  6. Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect harness connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and perform self-test.
