Enable/Disable Spare Key Programming

NOTE: Spare ignition key programming switch is a programmable switch which provides capability to enable/disable the normal customer spare ignition key programming procedure detailed in owner's manual. This programmable switch is provided as a convenience for rental company fleets or other fleet purchasers who may not want spare ignition key programming procedure available to vehicle driver. The spare ignition key programming switch state can be viewed using PATS PID SPARE_KY.

Insert a programmed ignition key into ignition lock cylinder. Insert Ford Service Function (FSF) card into New Generation Star (NGS) tester. Turn ignition switch from LOCK to RUN position. With WDS or NGS tester connected to vehicle, enter PATS then select SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE. This procedure will take about 10 minutes to perform. After security access procedure has been completed, a new menu will be displayed with command options. Default setting on all new vehicles is ENABLE. Select SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING SWITCH. Set SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING SWITCH to ENABLE to allow ignition keys to be programmed or DISABLE to make ignition key programming not accessible.
