Pinpoint Test P: Misfire/Injector Driver Circuit Operation: Introduction: Detection/Management

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2005 Ford RV Cutaway, 2005 Ford Pickup, 2005 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2005 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2005 Ford Excursion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: FICM detected DTCs will not be transmitted if the inter-module (PCM to FICM) controller area network (CAN) is inoperative.

The fuel injection control module (FICM) is capable of detecting individual injector opens and shorts to ground or voltage while the engine is running. The FICM is also capable of detecting right or left bank high side opens or shorts to ground. An on-demand injector self-test allows the operator to verify operation of all injector solenoids with the engine off.
