System Tests: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Disconnect battery before disconnecting Central Timer Module (CTM) or Generic Electronic Module (GEM) harness connectors. Failure to do so will result in CTM/GEM storing erroneous codes and may also result in erratic operation of CTM/GEM after reconnecting.
NOTE:
If continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are recorded and symptom is not present during testing, problem may be intermittent. Always check for loose connections and corroded terminals. Complete entire test related to symptom before replacing Generic Electronic Module (GEM) or Central Timer Module (CTM).
