Test Ab: Instrument Cluster Is Inoperative (Bi-Fuel Vehicles Only)
- Disconnect 2-pin in-line harness connector C4082. Connect a 5-amp fused jumper wire between terminals No. 1 and 2 (both Violet wires) at in-line harness connector C4082. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If fuel gauge operates correctly, go to next step. If fuel gauge does not operate correctly, go to step 5
.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove dash reset relay. Test dash reset relay. See DASH RESET RELAY
under COMPONENT TESTS. If relay is okay, go to next step. If relay is not okay, replace dash reset relay.
- Disconnect compuvalve module harness connector C4025. Measure resistance in White wire between terminal No. 15 at compuvalve module harness connector C4025 and terminal No. 85 at dash reset relay harness connector C4204. See Figure
and Fig 1
. Measure resistance in White wire between terminal No. 9 at compuvalve module harness connector C4025 and terminal No. 86 at dash reset relay harness connector C4204. Measure resistance in Violet wire between terminal No. 87A at dash reset relay harness connector C4204 and terminal No. 1 at in-line harness connector C4082. Measure resistance of Violet wire between terminal No. 30 at dash reset relay harness connector C4204 and terminal No. 2 at in-line harness connector C4082. Resistances should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and terminals No. 15 (White wire) and terminal No. 9 (White wire) at compuvalve harness connector C4025. Resistances should be greater than 10 k/ohms. If all resistances are as specified, go to next step. If any resistance is not as specified, repair circuit in question for open or short to ground.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and terminals No. 9 and 15 (White wires) at compuvalve harness connector C4025. If voltage exists, repair short to power in circuit in question. If voltage does not exist, replace compuvalve module. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - CNG/LPG (BI-FUEL)
article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C808a. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 9 (Violet wire) at harness connector C808A. See Figure
. If battery voltage exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Violet wire.
