Dash Reset Relay

  1. Remove relay. Measure resistance between relay terminal No. 85 and terminals No. 30, 86, 87, and 87a. See Fig 1 . If any resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace relay. If all resistances are more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Using a jumper wire, connect between positive battery terminal and relay terminal No. 30. Using a self-powered test lamp, check for voltage at relay terminal No. 87a. If voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is not present, replace relay.
  3. Using 3 jumper wires, connect one jumper between positive battery terminal and relay terminal No. 30. Connect another jumper wire between positive battery terminal and relay terminal No. 86. Connect the last jumper wire between negative battery terminal and relay terminal No. 85. Using a test light, check for voltage at relay terminal No. 87. If battery voltage is not present, replace relay. If battery voltage is present, relay is okay. Check voltage and ground supplies to relay.
