Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Inspection

  1. Inspect camshaft for wear. Ensure camshaft journal diameter is within specification. See CAMSHAFT  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
  2. Inspect camshaft bearings for damage. Measure camshaft bearing inside diameter. Replace camshaft bearing if inside diameter is not within specification. See CAMSHAFT  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. If necessary to replace camshaft bearings, see CAMSHAFT BEARINGS .
  3. Using micrometer, measure thickness of camshaft thrust plate if removed from camshaft. Replace camshaft thrust plate if thickness is not within specification. See CAMSHAFT  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
