Steering Knuckle: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install steering knuckle onto upper and lower ball joints. Install upper ball joint clamping bolt and nut, and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  2. Install lower ball joint nut and tighten to specification. Install cotter pin. If necessary, advance ball joint nut for cotter pin installation. DO NOT back nut off. Install axle shaft into hub. Ensure axle shaft splines are engaged with hub assembly. Install NEW axle shaft hub nut with washer, finger tight.
  3. Install tie rod on steering knuckle. Tighten tie rod nut to specification. Install brake caliper and rotor on hub. Install wheel and tire assembly. Lower vehicle and tighten NEW axle shaft hub nut to specification. DO NOT use impact wrench to tighten axle shaft hub nut.
