Cylinder Heads: Inspection

Clean all carbon from cylinder head combustion chambers. Remove all gasket material from cylinder head and cylinder block. DO NOT scratch mating surfaces.
CAUTION: NEVER machine cylinder head or cylinder block mating surfaces. This reduces valve-to-piston clearance, causing engine damage. If cylinder head or cylinder block surface warpage exceeds specification, replace with NEW unit.
Measure cylinder head warpage. If warpage exceeds specification, replace cylinder head. See CYLINDER HEAD table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
Measure warpage of cylinder block deck surface. If warpage exceeds specification, resurface cylinder block. See CYLINDER BLOCK table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
Clean fuel injector bore using Injector Sleeve Brush (014-00934-5). Clean any debris from fuel injector bore, to ensure fuel injector "O" rings will seat properly.

CAUTION: DO NOT use excessive oil on bolt threads, or damage to threads and poor sealing may result. DO NOT use anything other than clean engine oil on bolts.
