Pinpoint Test HB - Trunk Ajar Warning Never/Always On

  1. This test diagnoses 2 conditions: warning light is on at all times and warning light never comes on. If warning light is on at all times, go to next step. Go to step 4) if warning light never comes on.
  2. Turn ignition off to reset warning. Unplug connector from trunk warning switch. Turn ignition on. Check for warning on message center. If warning still appears, go to next step. If warning goes out, service trunk door warning switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove EIC. See, under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION, ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC)  . Inspect EIC connector C255 pin No. 33 (Brown/White wire) for continuity to ground. Replace EIC if continuity does not exist. See Figure . Repair short in Brown/White wire if continuity exists.
  4. Perform step 4) of PINPOINT TEST HA  . If all voltages are as specified, go to next step. Repair appropriate wire if voltages are not as specified.
  5. Turn ignition off. Unplug connector from trunk warning switch. Connect jumper wire between Brown/White wire on harness connector and ground. Turn ignition on. Check for warning on message center. Go to next step if warning does not appear. If warning appears, service switch.
  6. Leave jumper wire connected. Turn ignition off. Remove EIC. Inspect Brown/White for continuity between C255 connector pin No. 33 and trunk ajar switch. See Figure . If continuity exists, replace EIC. Repair open Brown/White wire if continuity does not exist.
