Fitting Pistons

  1. Measure piston diameter .709" (18.01 mm) below oil ring groove, at 90-degree angle to piston pin. Ensure piston diameter is within specification. See PISTONS PINS & RINGS SPECIFICATIONS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS at end of article. Oversize pistons are available in .010" (.25 mm) and .020" (.51 mm).
  2. Cylinder bore diameter is measured at top, center and bottom of cylinder bore. Ensure piston clearance is within specification. See PISTONS PINS & RINGS SPECIFICATIONS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS at end of article.
