Cougar & Thunderbird

  1. This monitor has a self-diagnostic mode. To enter self-diagnostic mode, start vehicle, then within 16 seconds press and hold RESET switch for 4 seconds. After 4 seconds, the entire display will flash. Monitor is now in tach input test. The display flashing sequence indicates tach signal pulses are being measured proportional to engine RPM. The faster the engine RPM, the faster the display sequence flashes.
  2. If only oil change display is flashing, then tach input signal to monitor is missing. Self-diagnostics cannot be entered until this signal is provided. See appropriate WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article.
  3. To advance to next test while display is flashing, press and release RESET switch. Monitor is now in oil temperature test. OIL light is on and oil temperature is indicated by display segment lighting. See OIL TEMPERATURE TEST  table.
