Turn Signal & Hazard Flasher Switches (AEROSTAR, Bronco II & Ranger)
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove horn pad switch and steering wheel. See HORN BUTTON in this article, Also, see STEERING WHEEL in this article. Remove turn signal switch lever by unscrewing from steering column. Remove column shroud.
- Disconnect 2 turn signal switch wiring connectors. Remove screws attaching switch to column. On fixed columns, remove switch assembly from vehicle by guiding switch and connector plug through opening in shaft socket.
- On models with tilt column, remove upper extension shroud by squeezing at 6 and 12 o'clock positions and popping it free. To open trim shroud, remove 4 attaching screws, and swing shroud downward. Peel back the foam sight shield, remove 2 screws attaching shroud to steering column, and remove ignition lock cylinder.
- Remove turn signal lever by pulling as lever is twisted. Remove shroud. Remove 2 self-tapping screws attaching turn signal switch to lock cylinder. Disconnect electrical connectors and remove turn signal switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.
