Fuel Computer Display Not Illuminated, Too Dim, Or All Black

Place ignition switch in "RUN" position. Check for back lighting of speedometer/tachometer display. If other module is okay, go to next step. If not, go to step 3).
Disconnect negative battery cable. Check for continuity between pin "1C" and pin "12A". See Instrument Cluster Pin Connector Identification. If okay, replace burned out bulb(s). If not, repair wiring as required.
Remove instrument cluster. Connect negative battery cable. Measure resistance between pin "3C" and pin "11B". Reading should be less than one ohm. If correct, go to next step. If not, repair illumination ground.
Place ignition switch in "RUN" position. Check display for back lighting. Turn headlights on. Move dimmer control to maximum brightness. Check for display back lighting.
If display does not light in "RUN" position or with headlights on, go to next step. If display is illuminated in "RUN" position but not with headlights on, go to step 7). If display is too dim, go to step 8).
Remove instrument cluster. Connect negative battery cable. Measure voltage on pin "8C" (LCD illumination line). If reading is greater than 10 volts, replace cluster. If reading is less than 10 volts, repair illumination circuits, fuses, or headlight switch.
Remove instrument cluster. Connect negative battery cable. Turn headlight switch on. Move dimmer to maximum brightness. Measure voltage on pin "8C". If reading is greater than 10 volts, replace cluster. If reading is less than 10 volts, repair illumination circuits, fuses, or headlight switch.
Remove instrument cluster. Connect negative battery cable and place ignition switch in "RUN" position. Check for burned out bulbs. If bulbs are on, go to next step. If not, replace burned out bulb(s).
Remove instrument cluster. Check for correct bulb type (Halogen). If Halogen bulbs are not installed, replace bulbs. If bulbs are of correct type, go back to steps 6) and 7).
