Reservoir, Windshield Washer: Installation

  1. Position the washer reservoir into the right front fender wheel house.
  2. Align the reservoir filler neck with the opening into the engine compartment, the raise the washer reservoir far enough to align the integral mounting tabs with the mounting holes in the inner fender shield.
  3. Install and tighten the two screws (3) that secure the reservoir to the inner fender shield. Tighten the screws to 8 N.m (71 in. lbs.).
  4. Engage the front and rear washer hoses into the troughs integral to the outboard side of the reservoir.
    NOTE:

    Be certain to connect the front and rear washer hoses to the proper outlet nipples of the washer pump (rear washer hose goes to black nipple, front washer hose goes to white nipple). Failure to properly connect the hoses will cause the front and rear washer systems to operate incorrectly.

  5. Connect the front and rear washer hoses (2) to the barbed outlet nipples of the washer pump. Be certain that the rear washer hose on the left side of the reservoir is connected to the black nipple and the front washer hose on the right side of the reservoir is connected to the white nipple.
  6. Connect the engine compartment wire harness connector (1) for the washer pump/motor unit to the connector receptacle on the top of the motor.
  7. Install the right front wheel house splash shield onto the vehicle. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, REAR WHEELHOUSE, INSTALLATION .
  8. If equipped with a turbocharger, install the charge air cooler. Refer to COOLER AND HOSES, CHARGE AIR, INSTALLATION .
  9. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
  11. Fill the washer reservoir with the washer fluid drained from the reservoir during the removal procedure.
