Pump, Power Electronics Coolant: Removal

WARNING:

When performing any repairs that involve contact with high voltage components or systems, the technician performing repairs on the vehicle must verify that the system remains powered down during high voltage repairs.

  • This must be done by removing the service disconnect.
  • The high voltage power down procedure must also be performed to ensure that the vehicle is properly powered down.
  • The technician must know the whereabouts of the service disconnect throughout the repair.
  • The technician must ensure that no one reconnects the service disconnect while service is being performed.
  • The technician must recheck that the service disconnect has not been reinstalled in cases where the vehicle was unattended.
  1. Power down the high-voltage system. Refer to HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER DOWN PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect the negative 12-volt battery cable.
  3. Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the four front bumper reinforcement bolts (1,) and the two front bumper reinforcement nuts (2).
  5. Remove the front bumper reinforcement.

  6. Correctly support the cooling module with a suitable jack stand or similar.
  7. Remove the two cooling module lower mounting bracket bolts (1), and remove the mounting brackets (2).

  8. Position the cooling module to allow access to the power electronics coolant pump (4).
  9. Using suitable hose-pinching pliers, clamp-off the two coolant hoses at the power electronics coolant pump.
  10. Release the power electronics coolant pump inlet hose clamp (5), and disconnect the inlet hose from the pump.
  11. Release the power electronics coolant pump outlet hose clamp (1), and disconnect the outlet hose from the pump.
  12. Disconnect the power electronics coolant pump electrical connector (3).
  13. Remove the two power electronics coolant pump bracket bolts (2), and remove the power electronics coolant pump.
