Diagnosis And Testing - Sunroof Switch

WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power down the 12 volt system. Refer to 12-VOLT POWER DOWN .
- Disconnect the negative 12 volt battery cable.
- Remove the power sunroof switch from the headliner. Refer to SWITCH, SUNROOF, REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the sunroof wire harness connector from the sunroof switch connector receptacle.
- Using a multimeter, test the continuity between the terminals of the sunroof switch connector receptacle while actuating the switch as shown in the Sunroof Switch Tests table below.
SUNROOF SWITCH TESTS SWITCH POSITION CONTINUITY BETWEEN PINS OFF NO CONTINUITY CLOSE 1 and 2 OPEN 1 and 3 SWITCH ILLUMINATION LED - SET MULTIMETER TO DIODE MODE - CONNECT PIN 4 TO PLUS (+), CONNECT PIN 1 TO MINUS (-) - LED SHOULD BARELY GLOW - If the switch fails any of the tests, replace the ineffective switch.
