Seat Back, Front: Installation

NOTE:
Passenger seat shown in the illustration. Driver seat similar.
- If removed, install the seat back cushion and cover onto the seat back frame. Refer to SEAT BACK, FRONT, ASSEMBLY .
- Position the seat back cushion, cover and frame (3) to the seat bottom and engage the seat back recliner cable (2) to the seat back recliner lever (1).WARNING:
Do not reuse the bolts that secure the seat back frame to the seat. Always discard and replace the seat back bolts with new bolts. Reinstalling the original bolts may result in the seat back becoming loose after repair. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious or fatal injury.
- Align the seat back frame (1) to the seat bottom frame (3) and install four new retaining bolts (2). Tighten the bolts to 40 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).
- Connect the air bag wire harness connector (2).
- Connect the heated seat element wiring harness connector, when equipped with heated seats.
- Engage the J-clips (1 and 3) that secure the bottom-rear of the seat back cover together.
- Position the inboard seat cushion side shield (4) to the seat and install the two retaining screws. Tighten the screws securely.
- Install the seat back recliner lever (3).
- Install the screw (1) and washer (2) that secures the seat back recliner lever. Tighten the screw securely.
- Install the trim cap (1) onto the seat back recliner lever (2).
- Position the outboard seat cushion side shield (3) to the seat and engage the front of the side shield to the seat.
- Install the three screws (1, 2 and 4) that secure the outboard seat cushion side shield to the seat. Tighten the screws securely.
- Install the trim cap (1) onto the outboard seat cushion side shield (2).
- Install the front seat. Refer to SEAT, FRONT, INSTALLATION .
