Seat Back, Front: Installation

NOTE:

Before proceeding with the following procedure, review all Warnings and Cautions. Refer to WARNING  .

NOTE:

Passenger seat shown. Driver seat similar.

  1. If removed, install the seat back cushion and cover onto the seat back frame. Refer to SEAT BACK, FRONT, ASSEMBLY .
  2. Position the seat back cushion, cover and frame (1) to the seat bottom frame.
    WARNING:

    Do not reuse the bolts that secure the seat back frame to the seat. Always discard and replace the seat back bolts with new bolts. Reinstalling the original bolts may result in the seat back becoming loose after repair. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious or fatal injury.

  3. Align the seat back frame (1) to the seat bottom frame and install four new retaining bolts (2). Tighten the bolts to 40 Nm (30 lbf-ft).
  4. Position the seat belt buckle (4) and install the fastener (3).
  5. Tighten the seat belt buckle fastener (3) to 40 Nm (30 lbf-ft).

  6. Fasten the seat wiring harness routing clips (2).
  7. Connect the seat back wiring guide (1).

  8. From the bottom of the seat, fasten the seat wiring harness routing clips (1).
  9. Connect the seat track position sensor wiring connector (3).
  10. Connect the occupant detection sensor wiring connector (2).
  11. Connect the heated seat wiring harness connector, when equipped with heated seats. Refer to PAD, HEATER, DESCRIPTION .

  12. Position the inboard side cover (1) to the seat and engage the inner retainers by moving it down and rearward.
  13. Install the fasteners (3) into the rear of the inboard side cover (1) and tighten securely.
  14. Install the fasteners (2) into the inboard side cover (1) and tighten securely.
  15. Align and insert the fastener covers into the side cover.

  16. Move the outboard side cover (1) down and rearward, engaging it to the seat.
  17. On the front inner of the side cover (1), inspect the side cover clip (2) to be certain it is fully engaged.

  18. Position the recliner lever (1) and the height adjuster lever (2).
  19. Install the fasteners (3 and 5) into the height adjuster lever (2) and the recliner lever (1). Tighten the fasteners securely.
  20. Install the fastener (4) into the rear of the side cover and tighten securely.
  21. Align and insert the fastener covers into the recliner lever (1) and height adjuster lever (2).
  22. Install the front seat. Refer to INSTALLATION  .
