Panel, Instrument: Installation
- If necessary, install the passenger airbag into the instrument panel cover. Refer to AIR BAG, PASSENGER, INSTALLATION .
- With the help of an assistant, position the instrument panel cover (1) into the vehicle.
- Align the front guides (1) and side guides (2) and move the instrument panel cover (1) fully forward.
- Within the upper storage bin, engage the retainers (1) for the air flow tube.
- Install the air flow adjustment knob (2).
- Reach through the instrument panel glove box opening to install and tighten the two screws (2) that secure the passenger airbag to the instrument panel structural support. Tighten the screws to 8 Nm (71 lbf-in).
- Reach through the instrument panel glove box opening to access and reconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector to the Passenger airbag pigtail harness connector (1) on the underside of the structural support. Be certain the connector is fully engaged and locked.
- Install the fastener (2) into the right side of the instrument panel cover (1).
- Insert the wiring harness retainers (3) into the cluster area.
- Insert the wiring harness retainers (4) for the radio and antenna connections.
- Install the fasteners (2) into the left side of the instrument panel cover (1).
- Position the glove box assembly (1) to the vehicle.
- Rotate the glove box assembly upward and forwards until it is engaged to the crossmember (2).
- Connect the glove box light switch (3) wiring connector.
- Install the fasteners (1) into the glove box assembly (2) and tighten securely.
- Install the heating and air conditioning control. Refer to CONTROL, A/C AND HEATER, INSTALLATION .
- Position the HVAC control bezel (2) close and connect the wiring connectors to the multi media port (1).
- Install the HVAC control bezel (1) to the instrument panel.
- Install the lower fastener (2) and tighten securely.
- Install the two upper fasteners (1) into HVAC bezel (2) and tighten securely.
- Install the center instrument panel bezel (1) to the instrument panel cover.
- Install the lower instrument panel bezel (2) to the instrument panel.
- Install the fastener (3) and tighten securely.
- Install the fastener (1) located on the right side of the upper storage bin door opening and tighten securely.
- Position the upper storage bin door (1) and install the fasteners (2). Tighten the fasteners securely.
- Install the instrument panel end cap (1) to the instrument panel.
- Position the instrument cluster close enough to the instrument panel to access and connect the instrument panel wire harness connector.
- Position the bottom of the instrument cluster into the instrument panel, then tilt the top forward into place.
- Install the four screws that secure the instrument cluster and tighten securely.NOTE:
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI Configuration data into the new ECU. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under Miscellaneous Functions for the ECU menu item.
Refer to MODULE, INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER, MODULE PROGRAMMING .
- Position the driver side instrument panel bezel (1) and engage the retaining clips.
- Install the fastener (2) and tighten securely.
- Install the radio and radio controls. Refer to RADIO, INSTALLATION .
- Install the steering column. Refer to COLUMN, INSTALLATION .
- Install the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, INSTALLATION .
- Do not reconnect the negative cable to the battery at this time. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Verification Test procedure should be performed following service of any SRS component. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
