Carrier, Instrument Panel: Installation

  1. Locate the instrument panel carrier centering bushings (1) located on both ends of the instrument panel carrier.
    NOTE:

    The resetting of the instrument panel carrier centering bushings allows the bushings to re-center in order to permit them to recover the clearances while mounting the instrument panel carrier to the body using the side bolts.

  2. Fully tighten the instrument panel carrier centering bushings until the reference element fits between the two retainers.
    NOTE:

    Inspect the centering bushings and replace if necessary.

  3. With the help of an assistant, one person on each side of the vehicle, position the instrument panel carrier into the vehicle.
    NOTE:

    Make sure that all wiring harnesses are routed properly and are not pinched when installing the instrument panel carrier.

  4. Insert the instrument panel carrier side bolts into the hinge pillars.
  5. Tighten the side bolts gradually, alternating from lower right to upper left and vice versa, repeatedly. This will allow the centering bushings to recover the clearances between the instrument panel carrier and the body correctly.
  6. Once all four bolts are secured, tighten fully to 20 Nm (15 lbf-ft).

  7. Install the instrument panel carrier fastener (2) into the lower plenum (1).
  8. Tighten the fastener (2) to 20 Nm (15 lbf-ft).
  9. Install the wiper assembly. Refer to LINKAGE, WIPER ARM, INSTALLATION .
  10. Install the cowl panel cover. Refer to COVER, COWL PANEL, INSTALLATION .

  11. Install the upper fastener (3) into the bracket (2), securing the instrument panel carrier (1) to the floor tunnel.
  12. Tighten the upper fastener (3) to 15 Nm (11 lbf-ft).
  13. Install the lower fastener (4) into the bracket (2).
  14. Tighten the lower fastener (4) to 8 Nm (71 lbf-in).

  15. Install the fasteners (3) into the bracket (4), securing the instrument panel carrier (1) to the floor tunnel.
  16. Tighten the fasteners (3) to 15 Nm (11 lbf-ft).
  17. Install the fastener (2) securing the HVAC housing to the instrument panel carrier (1).
  18. Tighten the lower fastener (2) securely.

  19. Install the upper fasteners (3) securing the HVAC housing (1) to the instrument panel carrier (2).
  20. Tighten the upper fastener to 20 Nm (15 lbf-ft).

  21. Connect the wiring connector (1) to the air bag module (2).
  22. Position the ground wires and install the fastener (3). Tighten the fastener (3) to 8 Nm (71 lbf-in).

  23. Position the wiring harness into the routing clip (5) and fasten the retaining clip.
  24. Position the ground strap (4) and install the fasteners and tighten to 8 Nm (71 lbf-in).
  25. Connect the wiring connectors (1).
  26. Position the driver side floor air duct (2).
  27. Install fastener (3) and tighten securely.

  28. Position the driver side cowl/scuff trim panel (1).
  29. Install the fastener (2) and tighten securely.

  30. Align the hood release handle (1) and with the use of hand pressure install fully.

  31. Connect the coaxial cable connections (2).
  32. Connect body harness wiring connectors (1).

  33. Position the passenger side cowl/scuff trim panel (2).
  34. Install the fastener (1) and tighten securely.

  35. Install the instrument panel. Refer to PANEL, INSTRUMENT, INSTALLATION .
  36. Install the front doors. Refer to DOOR, INSTALLATION .
