Molding, Body Side: Removal
NOTE:
Front door (1) shown, rear door (2) typical.
- If the temperature is below 21°C (70°F), warm the body side molding (1 or 2) with a heat lamp or heat gun.NOTE:
The body side moldings are attached with retainers and a small amount of adhesive tape on the end.
- Remove the door trim panel of the door being serviced. Refer to PANEL, DOOR TRIM, REMOVAL or PANEL, REAR DOOR TRIM, REMOVAL .
- Remove the watershield from the appropriate door. Refer to WATERSHIELD, DOOR, REMOVAL or WATERSHIELD, REMOVAL .
- From within the door (1), squeeze the tabs on the retainers (2), with the use of appropriate pliers.
- Release all of the body side molding (3) inner retainers (2).
- Using a trim stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent to release the adhesive tape (4).
- Remove the body side molding (3) from the vehicle.
