This diagnostic checks the availability and rationality of the Engine Idle Speed signal which is sent by the Engine Control Module (ECM) via a CAN message. The diagnostic determines the availability by checking the received value is not equal to the Signal Not Available (SNA) default value. Then the diagnostic checks the rationality by confirming the signal value is within the range defined by a lower and upper threshold.
