The failure is detected if both the following conditions are true for a calibratable amount of time: The actual odd clutch position is closer to the clutch open position than the requested position as compared to a calibratable threshold. The odd clutch solenoid valve current (computed by closed loop control) is significantly lower than the zero flow current as compared to a calibratable threshold.
