Theory Of Operation

This diagnostic detects excessive clutch wear by checking for clutch slippage and low torque transmission of both clutches. The diagnostic compares the odd clutch speed to the engine speed when the engaged gear is an odd gear (1st, 3rd, 5th, Reverse) or the even clutch speed to the engine speed when the engaged gear is an even gear (2nd, 4th, 6th). If the difference in speed is greater than a threshold and the integral over time of the difference in speed is greater than a threshold, then the diagnostic is considered failing.
