Test 16A & 17A - Od/2-4 Hydraulic Pressure SW (DTC 32 & 33)
NOTE:
Perform TEST 2A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE:
Transmission Control Module (TCM) replacement will not correct DTC 32 and 33.
- Connect a 0-300 psi gauge to 2-4 pressure port. Refer to the AUTO TRANS OVERHAUL - CHRYSLER 41TE/AE overhaul article. Disconnect transmission control relay connector. Connect jumper wire between terminals "B" and "D" of transmission control relay connector. Raise and support front of vehicle. Apply service brakes and start vehicle. DO NOT allow wheels to rotate.
- Move shift lever to OD position. Using scan tool, actuate 2-4 solenoid. Read and record pressure gauge reading. It may be necessary to raise engine RPM slightly above idle.
- If pressure gauge reading fluctuates between 0 and 120-150 psi every 3 seconds, replace solenoid pack. If pressure does not fluctuate, code 32 or 33 may be set by the following causes;
- Low or high fluid level.
- Solenoid pack internal malfunction.
- Internal transaxle malfunction.
