Test 12A - 2-4 Pressure Switch Sense CKT (DTC 22, 23 & 27)
NOTE:
Perform TEST 2A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION

. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Disconnect solenoid pack connector. Turn ignition on. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance at terminal No. 2 of solenoid pack connector. On all other models, measure resistance at terminal No. 1 of solenoid pack connector. On all models, if resistance is 500 ohms or less, repair 2-4 pressure switch sense circuit for short to ground. If resistance is more than 500 ohms, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read 2-4 pressure switch status. On F24S and FJ22 models, connect and disconnect (4-6 times) jumper wire between battery voltage and terminal No. 2 of solenoid pack connector. On all other models, connect and disconnect (4-6 times) jumper wire between battery voltage and terminal No. 1 of solenoid pack connector.
- Using scan tool, read 2-4 pressure switch status. If switch status toggles between CLOSED and OPEN, go to next step. If switch status does not toggle between CLOSED and OPEN, go to TEST 12B .
- Disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. Use external ohmmeter. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance between terminal No. 6 of solenoid pack connector and terminal No. 56 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance between terminal No. 4 of solenoid pack connector and terminal No. 16 of TCM connector.
- On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open transmission control relay output circuit.
- Connect TCM connector. Connect the solenoid pack connector. Connect a 0-300 psi gauge to 2-4 pressure port. Refer to the AUTO TRANS OVERHAUL - CHRYSLER 41TE/AE overhaul article. Disconnect transmission control relay. Turn ignition on.
- Connect jumper wire between relay connector, terminals "B" and "D". Raise and support vehicle. Apply service brakes and start vehicle. DO NOT allow wheels to rotate. Move shift lever to OD position. Using scan tool, actuate 2-4 solenoid. Read and record pressure gauge reading. It may be necessary to raise engine RPM slightly above idle.
- If pressure gauge readings fluctuate between 0 and 120-150 psi, replace solenoid pack. If pressure does not fluctuate, but is more than 100 psi, replace solenoid pack. If pressure is less than 100 psi, code may be set by the following causes:
- Low or high fluid level.
- Short or low-reverse pressure switch, OD pressure switch, and/or 2-4 pressure switch circuits.
- Solenoid pack internal malfunction.
- Internal transmission axle malfunction.
- Damaged or pushed out TCM terminals No. 7, 10, 49 for FS24 and FJ22 models, or terminals 9, 47 or 50 for On all other models.
