Test TC-133A - Timing Belt Skipped 1 Tooth Or More

NOTE: After each repair, perform TEST VER-2A .
CAUTION: Incorrect valve timing may cause engine damage.
  1. TIMING BELT SKIPPED 1 TOOTH DTC sets when Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor and Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor are offset by one tooth or more. Possible causes are: valve timing out of specification, or camshaft relative position not relearned after servicing cam, cam sprocket, timing belt, tensioner, cylinder head, head gasket, crank sprocket, crankshaft, cylinder block, water pump or PCM. Go to next step.
  2. Check valve timing. Correct valve timing as required. If valve timing is okay, use scan tool to select RELEARN CMP/CKP. Test is complete.
