Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    WARNING:

    On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

    Read the HIGH-VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES. Refer to  HIGH VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES  . 

    When the HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER-DOWN PROCEDURE is necessary. Refer to  VEHICLE HIGH VOLTAGE POWER DOWN  . 

    1. With the scan tool, read Electrical Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) DTCs and record on the repair order.
      NOTE:

      If the Electrical Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) is not present on the CAN Bus or U0111-00 DTC is active, establish communication with the EVCU before proceeding. 

    2. Record the Freeze Frame Data (If available), Event Data (If available), and Environmental Data.
    3. Repair any related Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTCs before continuing.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    5. Using the recorded data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    6. With the scan tool, read EVCU DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To Next Step

      No 

  2. CHECK THE (R414) AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SIGNAL 2 CIRCUIT FOR FAILURE 
    1. Test the circuit for an open, high resistance, short to ground or short to voltage condition.
    2. Check related terminals for fit and connection integrity.

      Were there any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To Next Step
  3. CHECK THE (R41) AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR FAILURE 
    1. Test the circuit for an open, high resistance, short to ground or short to voltage condition.
    2. Check related terminals for fit and connection integrity.

      Were there any problems found?

      Yes 

      No
