Park Detent And Manual Shaft Removal

NOTE:

The transmission does not require removal to complete the following procedure.

  1. Remove the valve body from the transmission. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL .

    1 - Pry Tool
    2 - Shifter Cable End
  2. Using a suitable prying too, separate the shifter cable end from the manual lever on the transmission.
  3. Remove the nut holding the manual shift lever to the manual shaft.
  4. Pry the manual shift lever upward and off the manual shaft.

    1 - Spring
    2 - Detent
    3 - Screwdriver
  5. Using a suitable screwdriver, pry the spring to the inside and from the detent.

    1 - Detent Hub
    2 - Punch
    3 - Hammer
  6. Using a suitable hammer (3) and pin-punch (2), drive the roll-pin out of the detent hub (1).

    3 - Pliers
  7. Using suitable pliers, pull the manual shaft out of the detent hub and transmission housing.

  8. Separate the detent hub and park rod from the transmission.
