948TE/9HP48 Automatic Transmission (Service Information) (2 Of 2): Cover: Installation

1 - Wire Harness Connector Socket
2 - O-Ring Seals
  1. Install NEW  O-ring seals on the transmission wire harness connector socket.
    NOTE:

    A light coating of assembly lube can be applied to the O-ring seals to ease installation.

  2. Place the valve body cover in position on the transmission.
  3. Insert the wire connector socket into the opening on the inside of valve body with the flat side of the socket on the left.
  4. Press the wire connector socket inward until the retainer clip groove is exposed on the outside of the valve body cover.

  5. Install the clip to hold the wire connector socket in the valve body cover.
    NOTE:

    The gasket seal and valve body cover pan are replaced together. If either are damaged you must replace the valve body cover pan/gasket as an assembly.

  6. Make sure the gasket seal is in the groove around the sealing surface of the valve body cover pan.

  7. Place the transmission pan gasket against the sealing surface of the transmission housing.
  8. Install the valve body cover bolts to the transmission housing and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  9. Engage the transmission wire connector into the socket on the valve body cover.
  10. Rotate the lock lever clockwise onto the transmission wire connector.
  11. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, INSTALLATION .
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
  13. Fill the transmission, with NEW  fluid. Refer to FLUID AND FILTER SERVICE .
  14. Perform the Valve Body Solenoid Learn procedure if the valve body and/or the TCM was replaced during a repair.
  15. Perform the Transmission Verification Test. Refer to 948TE-9HP48 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
