- Install NEW
O-ring seals on the transmission wire harness connector socket.NOTE:
A light coating of assembly lube can be applied to the O-ring seals to ease installation.
1 - Valve Body Cover 2 - Flat Side of Wire Connector Socket 3 - Wire Connector Socket - Place the valve body cover in position on the transmission.
- Insert the wire connector socket into the opening on the inside of valve body with the flat side of the socket on the left.
- Press the wire connector socket inward until the retainer clip groove is exposed on the outside of the valve body cover.
1 - Wire Harness Connector 2 - Clip - Install the clip to hold the wire connector socket in the valve body cover.NOTE:
The gasket seal and valve body cover pan are replaced together. If either are damaged you must replace the valve body cover pan/gasket as an assembly.
- Make sure the gasket seal is in the groove around the sealing surface of the valve body cover pan.
1 - Valve Body Cover Bolts - Place the transmission pan gasket against the sealing surface of the transmission housing.
- Install the valve body cover bolts to the transmission housing and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

1 - Lock Lever - Engage the transmission wire connector into the socket on the valve body cover.
- Rotate the lock lever clockwise onto the transmission wire connector.
- Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
- Fill the transmission, with NEW fluid. Refer to FLUID AND FILTER SERVICE .
- Perform the Valve Body Solenoid Learn procedure if the valve body and/or the TCM was replaced during a repair.
- Perform the Transmission Verification Test. Refer to 948TE-9HP48 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
