Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, generate and record the Vehicle Scan Report.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Wait for 10 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on and start the engine.
- Wait for the engine to reach its normal temperature operation.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read Transmission Control Module (TCM) DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go to 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE (T812) PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID LINE PRESSURE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT OR HIGH RESISTANCE
- Disconnect the TCM harness connector
- Disconnect the Transmission Assembly harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (T812) Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure circuit at the transmission harness connector.
Is the resistance below 3 ohms?
Yes
- Go to 3
No
- Repair the (T812) Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure circuit for an open circuit or high resistance.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - 948TE 9HP48 .
- CHECK THE (T812) PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID LINE PRESSURE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Check for continuity between ground and the (T812) Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure circuit at the TCM harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (T812) Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (T812) Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - 948TE 9HP48 .
No
- Go To 4
- Check for continuity between ground and the (T812) Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure circuit at the TCM harness connector.
- CHECK THE (T812) PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID LINE PRESSURE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO ANOTHER CIRCUIT
- Check for continuity between the (T812) Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure circuit and all other circuits at the TCM harness connector.
Is there continuity between the (T812) Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure circuit and any other circuits in the TCM harness connector?
Yes
- Repair the (T812) Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure circuit for a short to another circuit.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - 948TE 9HP48 .
No
- Go To 5
- Check for continuity between the (T812) Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure circuit and all other circuits at the TCM harness connector.
- CHECK THE PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID LINE PRESSURE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Transmission Assembly harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure at the appropriate terminals in the Transmission Assembly connector.
Is the resistance of the Pressure Control Solenoid Line Pressure between 10.0 and 12.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Replace the Pressure Control Solenoid, Line Pressure in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - 948TE 9HP48 .
- CHECK TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all Transmission Control Module (TCM) harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connectors (if equipped).
- Disconnect all related systems harness connectors.
- Check the harness and components connectors and the male female terminals for the following conditions
- Proper connector installation.
- Apparently damaged connectors lock.
- Corrosion.
- Water contact signs.
- If the weatherproof protection is damaged (If equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to poor connection (terminal should be colorless due to overheat).
- Terminals that have been damaged due to being pushed.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
- Repair any damage found on step 4.
- Reconnect all Transmission Control Module (TCM) harness connectors. Make sure all the connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all the in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Make sure all the connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all the harness related connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully seated.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Operate the vehicle in the conditions that set this DTC.
- With the scan tool, read the Transmission Control Module (TCM) DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
- Replace the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL (TCM), REMOVAL .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - 948TE 9HP48 .
No
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - 948TE 9HP48 .
- Test Complete.
