Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE CONDITION TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH (TRS) SWITCH STATES
Park (P) Position Intermediate Position Reverse (R) Position Intermediate Position Neutral (N) position Intermediate Position Drive (D) Position Sport (S) Position A (T41) OPEN OPEN OPEN OPEN OPEN CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED B (T42) OPEN OPEN OPEN CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED C (T3) CLOSED CLOSED OPEN OPEN OPEN OPEN CLOSED CLOSED D (T1) OPEN CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED OPEN OPEN OPEN CLOSED Turn the ignition on.
NOTE:If all TRS switch states display OPEN, check the TRS connector for proper installation and test the 9-volt supply and sensor ground circuits for an open.
- With the scan tool, observe the TRS switch states and compare the readings to the switch states listed in the table above for each gear selector position.
Did all of the scan tool and table TRS switch states match?
Yes
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
No
- Go To 2
- With the scan tool, observe the TRS switch states and compare the readings to the switch states listed in the table above for each gear selector position.
- CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT
- Perform the Shift Cable Adjustment procedure in accordance with the Service Information.
- With the scan tool, observe the TRS switch states and compare the readings to the switch states listed in the table above for each gear selector position.
Did all of the scan tool and table TRS switch states match?
Yes
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - 948TE 9HP48 .
No
- Replace the Transmission Range Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - 948TE 9HP48 .
