Theory Of Operation

The purpose of the diagnostic is to detect an incorrect Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) stored in the Transmission Control Module (TCM). This diagnostic compares the VIN stored in the TCM to the VIN received via Controller Area Network (CAN).
