Hub And Bearing: Removal

NOTE:

Before proceeding, review all Warnings and Cautions. Refer to FRONT, WARNING .

NOTE:

The removal and installation of the wheel bearing and hub from the knuckle is only to be done with the knuckle removed from the vehicle.

  1. Remove the steering knuckle. Refer to KNUCKLE, STEERING, REMOVAL .

  2. Remove the three dust shield mounting bolts (1) and remove the dust shield (2).

  3. Install the knuckle into an arbor press, making sure the knuckle is level and supported by spacer blocks.
  4. Press the hub (1) out of the knuckle using a suitable tool.

  5. Remove the snap ring (1) from the knuckle using a suitable tool.

  6. Install knuckle into the press, making sure the knuckle is level and supported by spacer blocks.
  7. Press the bearing out of the knuckle using a suitable tool.
  8. If the bearing race is still pressed onto the hub, using a suitable tool remove the bearing inner race.
