Axle Assembly, Rear: Installation

  1. Raise the axle on a suitable jack.

  2. On each side of the vehicle, install the washers and the U-bolt nuts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. On each side of the vehicle, position the shock absorber to the axle.
  4. On each side of the vehicle, install the shock absorber lower nut and the shock absorber lower bolt (2) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. On each side of the vehicle, install the spindles. Refer to SPINDLE, REAR, INSTALLATION .

  6. On each side of the vehicle, install the lower stabilizer links (2) to the axle, if equipped.
  7. On each side of the vehicle, install the lower stabilizer links nuts (3) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  8. On each side of the vehicle, position the brake hose bracket to the axle.
  9. On each side of the vehicle, install the brake hose bracket bolt (1) and tighten securely. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  10. On each side of the vehicle, install the rear wheel speed sensor.
  11. On each side of the vehicle, install the ABS wheel speed sensor head mounting bolt (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  12. On each side of the vehicle, install the brake calipers and adapter brackets as an assembly. Refer to ADAPTER, DISC BRAKE CALIPER, INSTALLATION .
  13. On each side of the vehicle, install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  14. Remove the jack from under the axle.
  15. On each side of the vehicle, install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  16. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  17. Remove the Electric Park Brake (EPB) from maintenance mode.
