Line, A/C Liquid: Installation
CAUTION:
Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system. Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.
NOTE:
When replacing multiple A/C system components, see the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - REFRIGERANT OIL LEVEL .
NOTE:
Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals and gaskets is required anytime a refrigerant line is disconnected. Failure to replace the rubber O-ring seals and gaskets could result in a refrigerant system leak.
- Position the A/C liquid line (2) into the engine compartment and engage the liquid line to the lower retaining clips (1).
- Engage the A/C liquid line into the upper retaining clip (1).
- Remove the tape or plugs from the refrigerant line fittings and expansion valve ports (3).
- Lubricate new O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them onto the refrigerant line fittings. Use only the specified O-ring seals as they are made of a special material for the system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the vehicle.
- Connect the A/C liquid line and A/C suction lines (1) to A/C expansion valve.
- Connect the electrical connector to the A/C pressure transducer.
- Install the nut (1) that secures the A/C liquid and suction lines to the A/C expansion valve (2) and tighten the nut to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Remove the tape or plugs from the opened liquid line fitting and condenser port.
- Lubricate a new O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it and a new gasket onto the liquid line fitting. Use only the specified O-ring seal as it is made of a special material for the system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the vehicle.
- Connect the A/C liquid line (1) to the condenser.
- Install the bolt (2) that secures the A/C liquid line to the condenser and tighten the nut to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
- Install the fresh air inlet. Refer to INLET, FRESH AIR, INSTALLATION .
- Install the grille. Refer to GRILLE, INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Evacuate the refrigerant system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM EVACUATE .
- Adjust the refrigerant oil level. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - REFRIGERANT OIL LEVEL .
- Charge the refrigerant system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CHARGE .
