Condenser, A/C: Removal
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM RECOVERY .
- Remove the grille. Refer to GRILLE, REMOVAL .
- Remove the radiator shield mounting fasteners and pull the shield forward to gain clearance.
- Remove the bolt (2) that secures the A/C discharge line (1) to the condenser.
- Remove the bolt (2) that secures the A/C liquid line (1) to the condenser.
- Disconnect the A/C discharge and liquid lines from the condenser tapping blocks and remove and discard the O-ring seals and gaskets.
- Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and condenser ports.
- Disengage the retaining tab (4) that secures the left side condenser (3) mounting bracket to the radiator.
- Disengage the retaining tab (2) that secures the upper condenser mounting bracket to the radiator.
Lift the condenser upward to disengage the lower mounting tab (1) and remove the condenser from the engine compartment.
