Cooler, Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION (EGR): Removal
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING .
- Remove the radiator crossmember and position aside. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, RADIATOR, REMOVAL
.
1 - Oil Dipstick Tube Bracket Bolt 2 - Oil Dipstick Tube - Remove the oil dipstick tube bracket bolt and reposition the oil dipstick tube aside.
1 - Upper Coolant Hose Bolts - Remove the upper coolant hose bolts.
1 - Small Coolant Hose 2 - Upper Coolant Hose - Disconnect the small coolant hose and upper coolant hose from the thermostat housing and position hoses aside.
- Remove the tube from the EGR cooler to the EGR valve. Refer to TUBE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), CROSSOVER, REMOVAL .
1 - Coolant Hose 4 - Coolant Hose 2 - EGR Temp Sensor Harness Connector 5 - EGR Cooler Bolts 3 - EGR Tube Clamp 6 - EGR Cooler to Exhaust Manifold Nuts - Use hose clamp pliers to clamp off the coolant hoses.
- Release the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses from the of the EGR cooler.
- Disconnect the EGR temperature sensor wire harness connector.
- Remove the nuts securing the EGR cooler to the cylinder head.
- Remove the clamp securing the EGR tube to the EGR valve.
- Remove the bolts securing the EGR cooler.
- Remove and DISCARD the gasket.
