CROSSMEMBER, Front Suspension: Installation

If necessary, install the stabilizer bar. Refer to STABILIZER BAR, FRONT, INSTALLATION .
If necessary, install the steering gear. Refer to GEAR, INSTALLATION .
Raise the crossmember into position.
Install the six front crossmember bolts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

On each side of the vehicle, install the front crossmember bolts (2) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

On the right side of the vehicle, install the underbody shield to crossmember bolt (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

Connect the steering gear wire harness connector (1, 2).

Secure the wire harness routing clips (1).

Install the rear side transmission strut mount bolt (3) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

On both sides of vehicle, install the lower control arms to the ball joints (1).
On both sides of vehicle, install the washer (2).
On both sides of vehicle, install a NEW ball joint to lower control arm nut (3), hold the ball joint stud (1) and tighten the ball joint to lower control arm nut (3) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

On both sides of vehicle, install each outer tie rod end (1) to the knuckle.
Install a NEW tie rod nut (3), hold the tie rod stud and tighten the tie rod nut (3) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

Install the lower washer (2) and bushing (1).

On each side of vehicle, install the stabilizer bar link to lower control arm nut (2) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
On each side of vehicle, install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to INSTALLATION .
Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

Slide the intermediate shaft onto the steering gear shaft.
Install the steering column pinch bolt (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

Connect the negative battery cable on the negative battery post and secure the clamp lever (1).
Install the battery access cover.
Remove the steering wheel holder.
Set the toe to specifications. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
