Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read RBSS DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    3. Cycle the ignition from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
    4. With the scan tool, read RBSS DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE CAN CIRCUITS FROM THE RBSS TO THE TTM 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the RBSS Module harness connector and the TTM harness connector.
    3. Check the CAN circuits for opens or shorts.

      Are there any CAN circuits shorted or open?

      Yes 

      • Repair the CAN circuits that are open or shorted.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK TTM AND RBSS HARNESS CONNECTORS 
    1. Check the RBSS and TTM harness connectors.

      Are there any problems with the harness connectors?

      Yes 

      • Restore the correct function of the connector.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE TTM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUITS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the TTM harness connector.
    3. Check the TTM power supply circuits with a test light.
      NOTE:

      The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

      Does the test light illuminate brightly?

      Yes 

      • Go To  5

      No 

  5. CHECK THE RBSS POWER SUPPLY CIRCUITS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the RBSS harness connector.
    3. Check the RBSS power supply circuits with a test light.

      Does the test light illuminate brightly?

      Yes 

      • Go To  6

      No 

  6. CHECK THE TTM FUNCTIONALITY 
    1. Check for proper operation of the TTM.

      Does the TTM operate correctly?

      Yes 

      • Go To  7

      No 

      • Replace the TTM in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  7. CHECK THE RBSS FUNCTIONALITY 
    1. Check for proper operation of the RBSS.

      Does the RBSS operate correctly?

      Yes 

      • Test complete.

      No
