Section 13 (Mp3023 Transfer Case (Service Information)): Installation

Mount transfer case (1) on a transmission jack.
Secure transfer case to jack with chains.
Position transfer case under vehicle.
Align transfer case (1) and transmission (2) shafts and install transfer case onto transmission.
Install transfer case attaching bolts (3) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Connect the transfer case vent hose to the transfer case.

Install the rear support cushion.
Install rear crossmember and skid plate, if equipped. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, TRANSMISSION, INSTALLATION .
Remove transmission jack and support stand.
Connect front driveshaft and install rear driveshaft. Refer to SHAFT, DRIVE, REAR, INSTALLATION .
Fill transfer case with correct fluid. Refer to FLUID, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Connect the shift motor and encoder electrical connectors.
Lower the vehicle.
If replacing the transfer case, Drivetrain Control Module, or both, use the scan tool to perform the Non-Volatile Memory Reset procedure.
Perform the DTCM verification test. Refer to DTCM VERIFICATION TEST .
