TENSIONER, Belt: Removal: 3.6L

NOTE:

The 3.6L belt tensioner has a low output spring by design and is identified by the front gold plate. This tensioner may feel weak compared to other front end accessory drive tensioners.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to REMOVAL
  3. Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to 3.6L

  4. Remove the bolt (1), and remove the belt tensioner assembly.
WARNING:

Because of high spring tension, do not attempt to disassemble automatic tensioner. Unit is serviced as an assembly.
