Plate, Carrier, Police: Removal
- Raise the window to it's fully up position.
- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Remove the rear door trim (1). Refer to PANEL, REAR DOOR TRIM, POLICE, REMOVAL .
- Open the latch access panel (3).
- Remove the cover from the access hole (2).
- Temporarily install the window switch pod, reconnect the negative battery cable and lower the window until the white regulator tab is visible in the access hole (2, 3).
- With the help of an assistant holding the glass (1), release the window regulator tab and lift the window up.
- Secure the window glass (1) into place with a wedge or tape.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the window switch pod.
- Disconnect the door harness from the vehicle body harness.
- Remove the screws (2) from the harness grommet/bracket (1).
- Remove the harness grommet/bracket (1) from the door.
- Remove the retaining nut (1) securing the manual lock knob to the door.
- Remove the exterior door handle. Refer to HANDLE, EXTERIOR, REMOVAL .
- Remove the rear door latch screws (1).
- Remove the seven carrier plate bolts (3).
- Disengage the four carrier plate torx head retainers (2).
- Re-position the carrier plate (4) away from the rear door.
- Unclip the manual lock knob assembly (1) from the retaining clips located inside the door cavity.
- Remove the carrier plate (4) from the rear door.
