- Disconnect DRBIII from Data Link Connector (DLC). Measure voltage between ground and DLC connector terminal No. 16 (fused B+ circuit, Pink wire). See Fig 1. If voltage is more than 11 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 11 volts, repair open in Pink wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance between ground and DLC connector terminals No. 4 (ground circuit, Black/Light Green wire) and No. 5 (ground circuit, Orange/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms in both circuits, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire.
- Substitute an known good DRBIII cable. If DRBIII is operational, replace original DRBIII cable. If DRBIII is not operational, go to next step.
- Substitute an known good DRBIII tester. If DRBIII is operational, repair original DRBIII tester. If DRBIII is not operational, test is complete. Diagnose vehicle communication system.
