Removal & Installation (2-door Model)

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
- On models equipped with an automatic transmission, turn ignition switch to UNLOCK position. On all models, set parking brake and place automatic transmission gear selector lever in "L" position. Set tilt steering column in its lowest position, if equipped. Remove 2 retaining screws in hooded area of instrument cluster.
- Using trim stick or appropriate wide flat-bladed tool, gently pry around perimeter of instrument cluster bezel to disengage snap clip retainers from their receptacles in instrument panel. See Fig 1. Pull right and left-sides of instrument cluster bezel away from instrument panel to access and disconnect electrical connectors. Remove instrument cluster bezel.
- Open glove box. Remove 2 retaining screws securing lower edge of lower bezel to instrument panel. Remove 4 retaining screws securing upper edge of lower bezel to instrument panel. Pull lower bezel away far enough to disconnect instrument panel wire harness connectors. Remove lower bezel from instrument panel. Remove 3 retaining screws securing passenger-side air bag on-off switch to back of instrument panel lower bezel.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . DO NOT connect negative battery cable at this time. Perform air bag system check to ensure air bag system is functioning properly. See AIR BAG SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK.
