WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRBIII, determine if MIC message from instrument cluster is an active or stored Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). If MIC message is an active DTC, go to next step. If MIC message is a stored DTC, go to TEST 1B: REPAIRING STORED CODES .
- Using DRBIII, ensure instrument cluster communicating on the Programmable Communications Interface (PCI) bus. If instrument cluster is communicating on the PCI bus, replace Air Bag Control Module (ACM). See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (ACM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If instrument cluster is not communicating on the PCI bus, diagnose instrument cluster bus malfunction.
